Doug is the founding President of BAI, and Publisher of The Barnert Reports™. On behalf of BAI clients, he has successfully coordinated advocacy efforts on issues as diverse as mortgage and real estate investment limits, mutual fund reporting and risk based capital requirements, foreign investment rules, and asset backed securities.

Often quoted on insurance regulatory issues in the national financial press, Doug's advocacy on behalf of industry on regulatory issues is well known. His twenty years of experience interpreting the sometimes arcane world of insurance regulation makes him a sought-after speaker.

Prior to starting his consulting firm, Doug was a Vice President of the Alliance of American Insurers, and served as Assistant Deputy Commissioner for the Texas State Board of Insurance.
